Google’s quality guidance asks its raters to treat sites touching money, safety and major life decisions with extra care. Adult-sector sites touch all three. In practice that means your agency site is judged closer to the standard applied to financial advice than to the standard applied to a recipe blog, and E-E-A-T is the name of that judgement.
What E-E-A-T is
Four qualities Google’s systems and human raters look for. Experience: the content shows first-hand involvement, not research-paper distance. Expertise: the author demonstrably knows the subject. Authoritativeness: others recognise the site as a source. Trustworthiness: the site is transparent, accurate and safe to deal with. Trust is the one Google calls most important; the other three exist to support it.
Why it bites harder in this sector
Three reasons. The stakes are personal: clients risk money, privacy and safety, so Google prefers sites that look accountable. The baseline is low: this market carries real scams and real spam, so legitimate sites inherit suspicion by association. And AI search raises the price again: answer engines cite sources that look credible, so the trust layer is now a visibility layer too.
The gap nobody is filling
Here is the opportunity: almost nobody in this sector does any of this. Open ten competitor sites and count the ones with a named point of contact, a stated screening process, honest policies, or content that reads like an operator rather than a content mill. Usually zero. The E-E-A-T bar in adult SEO is on the floor, which makes it one of the few ranking advantages you can build without buying a single link.
Genuine E-E-A-T without exposing anyone
The objection is always discretion, and it misunderstands the assignment. Nobody is asking for staff photographs. Demonstrating trust in this sector looks like:
- Experience: content written from operations. Real process detail, real answers to the questions clients actually ask, the texture no outsider could fake. (It also survives the AI-content era, where generic copy gets flagged and forgotten.)
- Expertise: a journal that demonstrates knowledge rather than claims it. Guides that would still be useful if your name were removed.
- Authority: consistent identity everywhere you appear, earned mentions in real publications, and a reputation footprint you actively maintain.
- Trust: plain policies, a stated vetting and screening approach, working contact routes, accurate claims, secure everything. Boring, visible, decisive.
All of it compounds into brand, which is why the sites that win here tend to be the ones treating themselves as a luxury brand with standards rather than a listing with a phone number.
Start this week
Pick the three trust questions every client silently asks (am I safe, is this real, what happens next) and make sure your site answers each one within two clicks. That alone puts you ahead of most of the market. Then keep building, because E-E-A-T is not a checkbox, it is a reputation with a paper trail.
