Write for everyone and you write for no one. In this market, “everyone” was never the client anyway. A luxury agency lives on a narrow band of people with money, standards and a strong need for discretion, and every piece of marketing works better once you can describe them precisely.
That description is a buyer persona, or ideal client profile: a short, evidence-based portrait of who books you, what they worry about, and what convinces them. Not a creative writing exercise. A targeting tool.
The three personas behind most luxury adult bookings
Every market has its own mix, but after a decade in this sector the same three portraits keep appearing:
The high-net-worth regular
Time-poor, often travelling, pays for certainty. He is not browsing; he is delegating a decision. What he needs to see: an established name, a clear process, immediate response routes, and total discretion signalled without being laboured. He searches precise terms, often brand names, and converts on trust rather than price. Content for him is short, confident and operational: how booking works, what standards you keep.
The occasion client
A dinner, a trip, an event. He books rarely, researches heavily, and reads everything before making contact. He searches comparative and informational terms (“elite agency mayfair”, etiquette and expectation questions) and converts after several visits. Content for him is your journal: guides that answer the questions he is too discreet to ask anyone in person.
The wellness client
The tantric and massage side of the market. He values expertise, safety and legitimacy above all, and he is the most easily lost to a site that feels seedy. He searches practice-led and location terms, reads about practitioners and standards, and converts on professionalism. Content for him leads with knowledge and care, never with hard sell.
Build yours from evidence, not imagination
The raw material is already in your business. The questions clients ask before booking. The objections that stall enquiries. Which pages GA4 says they read before contacting you, and which searches Search Console says brought them in. The bookings that went perfectly, and who they were. An hour with that evidence beats a day of guessing, and it keeps the personas honest: if no real enquiry matches a portrait, the portrait is fiction and gets cut.
Putting the personas to work
A persona earns its place when it changes decisions. It decides which terms you chase, because each persona searches differently and intent follows the person. It decides your voice, because copy aimed at a wary HNW client reads nothing like copy aimed at everyone (most agency sites sound identical, and personas are the way out). And it decides your positioning, because a luxury brand is a promise made to a specific person, not to a demographic.
Three portraits, one page each, built from your own enquiries. It is the cheapest strategy document you will ever produce, and everything you publish afterwards gets sharper for it.
